Did Jimmy McShane really sing the vocals or was it Maurizio Bassi? I've read both.
I don't think Jimmy McShane could get away with it if he didn't! Could he?
I really like Baltimora-style music. Italio disco or whatever. I'm a vocalist/musician and I'd really like to do this kind of stuff sometime.
Why did Baltimora stop after 1987??
Did Jimmy really die alone and money-less? :-(
I'm a big Freddie Mercury fan so that's two people I'm a fan of have died of AIDS.

I think the chances are that Jimmy did not sing, he was a performer/dancer. But he was one hell of a good performer!
Baltimora ended, I would guess, because not enough records were being sold.
Since Jimmy did not actually write the big hits, he did not make the big money from them, so I wouldn't be surprised if he died poor, which is very sad.
I personally am a big fan of Freddie, Jimmy, and Alan Murphy....so many talented people lost to AIDS.

I've always wondered what made people come up with this conclusion.
I know he's miming on the videos... on official music videos, everyone mimes it. And the other videos of his, they are TV programs, which are usually mimed. I know all of Queen's TV performances were mimed (except Saturday Night Live).
Does anyone have any facts about him?

There aren't alot of facts at all about him - he really is a bit of a mystery.
Some of the songs it seems you can hear an italian accent, and I would presume that the other people saying that Bassi is the singer have some inside info.
Jimmy himself worked for the Red Cross, then trained as a dancer before Baltimora, there is no record of him singing before or after Baltimora.

I don't know; all I just heard that he worked for them for a while.
Its near to impossible to find any info on him on the internet - this is one of the reasons I set up this site.

I am crazy about Baltimora, whoever was behind the project. I don't really know anybody outside of cyber space who's as into the music as me, so it would be awesome to make some friends who can share info... myspace.com/acidwashhh but I am with Mike in that I want to believe Jimmy was the singer.

I have read that someone reported in a book (named Tom Hooker or something?) that Jimmy only lip-synched. I must find out the truth...who could we ask???

In musical projects of italo disco style like Baltimora the creators sometimes applied this method like Milli Vanilli. The best example in italo disco projects was Den Harrow (about 2 vocalist during his career) so Baltimora isn't except in that case.

Did Jimmy McShane really sing his own songs? Not according to Tom Beecher Hooker who was an American vocalist at time in Italy's music market and who happened to produce the real vocals for another Europe-wide popular Italian New-wave project ''Den Harrow''. Tom discloses the truth about ''Den Harrow'' during an interview and he also mentions the names of some other projects that were lip-synched. Check out the Epilogue part of his interview. well ... myspace was seeing the maurizio, and compared the music tarzan boy with the other it. there is a huge difference between the voices. then I still believe that Jimmy was the singer. this is that in the "La Giostra," with Linda Wesley, he comes to make a backvocal when Linda is singing. and when it is expressed in Italian, can tell the voices compare with the other music. It increases the evidence that Jimmy was the real singer. It is true that Maurizio and Naimy wrote the music, but I believe that Jimmy sang. It noted that Jimmy wrote "Survivor in Love," and also sang. He wanted to put his name in the hall of fame. I am a fan of Jimmy, and I am working on a fan-site, to honor it. I am also buying some for lp's collection, and I have 2 shirts. Who can help me with articles, pictures, I would be grateful and will have the name in the dedication of the site.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=_r0n9Dv6XnYand www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugu0Mi61rak There is a huge difference in voice between the first and second video. The second video, looks like the voice of Maurizzio. but the first, there seems not a bit, in my design. And unfortunately, the doubt is in the air (at least regarding Tarzan Boy). but I want to die believing that Jimmy has always been the singer.
